Review: The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Reading Level: YA   Publisher: Simon & Schuster   Publication Date: 5/5/09
Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer–they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between. But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

My Thoughts:

The Summer I Turned Pretty was such a good book! I thought it was a perfect summertime read, it had me wishing I was hanging out at the beach all summer!

My favorite thing about this book was the author’s writing style. I felt like I was right there with Belly. Every time something made her laugh, I laughed. Every time something made her cry, I cried.

I thought Belly was a really likable character and so easy to relate to. I was torn between Conrad and Jeremiah, I’m not real sure who I liked more since they were both so great in their own ways. Jeremiah was so full of life and Conrad was just so mysterious!

Overall, I thought The Summer I Turned Pretty was a really good read! If your looking for a book to curl up with on a hot summer day, then you should definitely check this one out!
