Over the weekend, we took the kids to the Peach & Melon Festival in small town De Leon, Texas. We all had so much fun, especially the babies! They ate cotton candy (which apparently is the best stuff ever created) and rode the carousal for the first time ever. One of the best parts of the night though, was when a Queen song came on over the loud speaker and my two year old just breaks out dancing, it was so cute!! I have to say, that boy has some moves! 😉

It really was a great night, in fact I think we’re going to make it yearly tradition for our family! I hope all of y’all had a great weekend as well!
When I get stressed out, I bake. Mainly sweets.
There is just something about making a fresh batch of cookies, or a homemade pecan pie, or in today’s case a peach cobbler that just makes all my worries melt away.
I wanted to share with all of y’all one of my favorite recipes. Now I am sure you can find this recipe all over the internet, but I got it from one of my parent’s closest friends, Ruby. She passed away a few years ago, but every time I make this recipe I always think of her and I know she is smiling down at me from somewhere up above.
Ruby’s Peach Cobbler
1 cup of sugar
1 cup of flour
1 cup of milk
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 stick of butter
1 can of peaches
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt the stick of butter, then pour it into the bottom of your pan. Next, mix together the sugar, flour, milk, and baking powder. Pour this mixture on top of the butter. Then, last but not least, spoon your peaches over the top. Don’t mix it all together, it won’t turn out well if you do. Put it in the oven for 20-30 minutes or until brown.
Best served with whipped cream or even better, homemade vanilla ice cream!
So yesterday me and the hubby went on a date for the first time in forever it seems like. We went to Taco Bell (which probably isn’t the most romantic place to eat at, but I freaking love Taco Bell!), then we watched Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters at the most awful theater in the whole state of Texas. Seriously. That place was bad! I will never ever go there again! Good news though, is that the movie was awesome! We were both really excited to watch it, especially my husband since he is a huge fan of the Percy Jackson series. He owns pretty much everything that they have come out with to go with that series, the books in all formats, the video game, the movie, the graphic novels. You name it and he has it. He actually has the Nintendo DS game and we don’t even have a DS player. LOL. He’s so funny! Anyways…I liked the first movie a whole lot, but I thought this one was even better! They did an excellent job, the special effects were really good this time and I thought the acting was better too. So yeah, overall I loved it! The best part of the evening though, was just being able to spend some quality time with my Sean. We never get to do anything alone because of the babies (which I’m not upset about because I love my little ones), but it was nice to have the evening off and I’m pretty sure the kids had a blast at their Nana’s. They love going over there, I think it’s because my in-laws spoil them rotten! 🙂
