Movie Night!!

Image

So yesterday me and the hubby went on a date for the first time in forever it seems like. We went to Taco Bell (which probably isn’t the most romantic place to eat at, but I freaking love Taco Bell!), then we watched Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters at the most awful theater in the whole state of Texas. Seriously. That place was bad! I will never ever go there again!  Good news though, is that the movie was awesome! We were both really excited to watch it, especially my husband since he is a huge fan of the Percy Jackson series. He owns pretty much everything that they have come out with to go with that series, the books in all formats, the video game, the movie, the graphic novels. You name it and he has it. He actually has the Nintendo DS game and we don’t even have a DS player. LOL. He’s so funny! Anyways…I liked the first movie a whole lot, but I thought this one was even better! They did an excellent job, the special effects were really good this time and I thought the acting was better too. So yeah, overall I loved it! The best part of the evening though, was just being able to spend some quality time with my Sean. We never get to do anything alone because of the babies (which I’m not upset about because I love my little ones), but it was nice to have the evening off and I’m pretty sure the kids had a blast at their Nana’s. They love going over there, I think it’s because my in-laws spoil them rotten! 🙂

Anyways, that’s it for now. Tomorrow I’m going to post one of my favorite recipes, so keep a look out for that!

XOXO,

Kimmie

Running on Empty by L.B. Simmons
Genre: Adult Contemporary Women’s Fiction – Release Date: Jan. 9, 2013
I had the perfect life.
Beautiful and loving husband.
Three gorgeous little girls.
Successful career.
The only thing missing was the white picket fence.  I really wanted that fence.
Three years ago, I lost that life.  I lost my husband.  And I lost myself.  But, eventually, I found my way through the darkness.  I’ve made peace with my new life. I have my girls, and that’s all that matters. They are my world.  I have no illusions of ever falling in love again or getting whisked away on a white horse.
But then he came back into my life. On a freakin’ motorcycle.
There’s no way I’ll let him turn my life completely upside down.  Absolutely no way.
The question is…
How long can I keep pretending that I’m happy with my life being right-side up?

I’ve been writing since first setting pencil to steno pad at age 8. A year later, I began developing the world of my current series-in-progress, and even created its title, The Silver Sphere. Now, with the support of years of experience, those early maps and back stories have progressed into what I hope is a fresh and entertaining take on the classic young adult fantasy adventure.
Despite my frequent escapes into parallel worlds, I root myself firmly in my very real family and community. When not pacing the yard maniacally after every few pages of writing, I spend as much time as possible hanging out with my studly 9-year-old son, and my inspirational wife Jenna. I also coach several local youth sports teams in Beverly Hills, and alternate between yelling at my two crazy Corgis and hiking with my trained German Shepherd.
For more, join me in my favorite fantasy worlds, from Lord of the Rings to the creations of C.S. Lewis, Anne McCaffrey and Terry Brooks. {Cover Reveal} Lennon’s Jinx by Chris Myers

Lennon’s Jinx by Chris Myers
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance – Release Date: 1/15/13
Sometimes, we don’t get to choose who we fall for.

Lennon spends most of his time raising his little sister Currie while trying to skate through his senior year of high school. He prefers groupies with no-strings attached but finds himself strangely attracted to Jinx, the straight-A student in his choir. Lennon’s curiosity overrules his good sense as he tries to peel away the layers to discover the reason for Jinx’s skittishness.

Jinx conceals the black truth about herself from her friends. She won’t admit to them that she screwed up big time, losing her first love and what she once held most precious.

When Lennon’s band holds auditions to replace their keyboard player, Jinx comes to tryout and almost leaves after seeing Lennon. Despite the fact she despises him, she joins the band to nurture her love of music that will hopefully ease the guilt gnawing away at her.

Like the rest of his band mates, Jinx soon witnesses Lennon battling his infamous father for the custody of Currie. While confronting his pent-up anger at his dad, Lennon exposes vulnerabilities he had no intention of letting any girl ever see, especially Jinx. Their reckless pasts may bring them together or further complicate their already messy lives.

About The Author:

Chris Myers suffers from an overactive imagination. In second grade, Sister Bernice produced Chris’s first play about pumpkins mauling and eating children. Apparently, the nuns didn’t catch the underlying meaning. This instantly raised Chris to stardom amongst her peers for the several days off from schoolwork while in production. She spent her high school years writing torch songs for fantasy guys then moved onto writing thrillers and young adult. Chris lives in Colorado with her daughter, her better half, and BeBe, a rambunctious Bichon.

Chris literally has very few photos of herself, even though photography put her through college. Here she is with her sisters and daughter. Chris is the one with the vino.

Chris started out as an art major, then moved to bio-chem, hoping to play Victor Frankenstein as a genetic engineer or messing with people’s minds as a psychiatrist. Just as she was about to graduate, she decided being broke for another four to ten years wouldn’t work out for her adventurous spirt and traveling. She ended up with an electrical engineering degree then a masters. As it turns out, she should’ve finished her first novel twenty-five years ago and stuck in the make-believe world where she is happiest.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Guardians Inc.

The Guardians Inc. storyline is not a trilogy, but a series of books. Five to be precise, but they might turn into six depending on how long Book Five turns out to be.

Before writing Book 1: The Cypher, I had already developed all story and character arcs for the whole series, and what I wanted to explore on each book. This process took about two years.

The Ending of the Series is already written and it is quite final.

Each book seeds the next books, so things, enemies and storylines will appear and reappear all over in the complete series.

There are allusions and “Tips o’ the hat” to many books, writers and movies I admire seeded throughout the Books. From The Jungle Book to The Last Starfighte and  Mythbusters. Most of them are done quite openly, even referenced by name, but some are very cryptic. Me having fun with the story.

Guardians Inc. relies heavily on historic figures and events. I research thoroughly before referencing a place or an event.

The same applies to technology, I do try to do as much research as I can before writing about technology. (although, like Thomas, theoretical physics are beyond my full understanding!)

One of the evil characters in Cypher: THE MAN IN THE TRENCHCOAT, got its own interactive book app for the ipad as an illustrated children’s book and it’s doing quite well!

ALL storylines will get closure. I promise.

As time progresses in the story and Thomas gets older, dangers, moral dilemmas, and romantic situations will get rougher, tougher and more… romantic!
